Learning Begins and Ends with Fun!

Hunt Hollow’s PSIA-certified Snowsports School has some of the top PSIA-trained instructors in the country, leading group and private lessons for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities, starting as young as three years of age.  Our inspiring team provides effective teaching techniques to help you excel quickly and get the most enjoyment from each session.  Junior and beginner programs stress both fun and safety.  With skill improvement comes the ability to carve turns, master speed control and handle various terrain.  Advanced skiers continue to develop through alpine programs and race clinics.

Ability Levels – Hunt Hollow

 		 Beginner:  Student has never been on skis or snowboard. 
New to the sport.

 		 Student has skied or ridden before and can turn and stop in either direction in the learning area. Can ride the carpet lift and stop without assistance in the carpet slope area; Lower Lovejoy slope.

 		 Student can ski/ride comfortably on most green trails including Lovejoy slope and Skycoaster trail. Able to turn and stop cautiously on groomed blue; Lower Main Street.

 		 Student makes efficient turns on all green and groomed blue trails (including Upper and Lower Main Street). Comfortable with increasing speeds. Beginning to match skis; beginning to parallel on skis. Snowboarding; can make heal and toe side turns

 		 Student is able to comfortably and effectively link turns on all blue trails. May still be cautious on groomed black trail (Glade trail). Skiers are making mostly parallel turns. Snowboarders are comfortably linking heal and toe side turns.

 Student is making more dynamic movements on Blue trails, comfortably linking turns on groomed black trails.

Hunt Hollow’s members-only premier ski racing programs for youths and adults are the most successful in Upstate New York.  Our talented, USSA- certified coaches train in all aspects of racing, developing strong skiing fundamentals, teaching tactics of competitive skiing and introducing goal achievement in a positive atmosphere.

Youth team members up to age 18 consistently achieve at all levels, including high school championships, Empire State Games and Junior Olympics.

Through our Masters’ Racing League, veteran racers participate in weekly training sessions and ongoing clinics, as well as the Lovejoy Intra-Club Series, featuring the excitement of slalom and giant slalom racing.

This is downhill racing at its best.  And whether you’re 8 or 88, we invite you to be a part of it.
